Case Manager - REA Program

Position Overview: The Case Manager for the REA (Refugee Employment and Assistance) Program will be responsible for providing comprehensive case management services to ORR-eligible populations, with a primary focus on Cuban and Haitian entrants due to the increased arrival rate of this population. The REA program is an initial 90-day assessment and referral services program designed to offer critical support to refugees, asylees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, Amerasians, Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders, and victims of human trafficking.

Program Overview: The REA program is a vital component of the refugee resettlement process, offering initial support to newly arrived individuals. Over the course of 90 days, the program focuses on assessing the needs of clients, providing essential referrals, and facilitating access to various services. The program aims to ensure that clients receive the support they need to transition smoothly into their new environment, with a particular emphasis on Cuban/Haitian entrants due to their recent increase in arrival rates.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Client Assessment:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' needs, including their health, housing, employment, and legal status.

  • Develop individualized service plans based on the assessment findings, ensuring that all immediate and long-term needs are identified and addressed.

2. Referral Services:

  • Provide referrals to appropriate agencies and programs for services such as healthcare, housing, employment, legal assistance, and education.

  • Coordinate with local and state agencies to connect clients with available resources, including cash assistance, food stamps, medical benefits, and other welfare programs.

3. Benefits Application Assistance:

  • Assist clients in applying for county benefits such as food stamps, cash assistance, and medical benefits.

  • Guide clients through the process of applying for work permits and asylum, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time.

4. Housing Assistance:

  • Help clients identify suitable housing options and support them in securing rental agreements and housing assistance.

  • Liaise with landlords and housing authorities to ensure clients are provided with safe and afforda

5. Employment Support:

  • Work with clients to identify suitable job opportunities and assist them in applying for positions.

  • Refer clients to employment programs such as MATCH (Matching Grant) and other job-related initiatives to enhance their employability and job prospects.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed case files for each client, documenting all interactions, referrals, and services provided.

  • Prepare regular reports on client progress and program outcomes, ensuring compliance with program guidelines and funding requirements.

7. Client Advocacy:

  • Advocate on behalf of clients with various service providers and government agencies to ensure they receive the services and support they are entitled to.

  • Educate clients about their rights and responsibilities within the U.S. legal and social systems.

8. Program Coordination:

  • Collaborate with other case managers, social workers, and program staff to ensure a coordinated approach to service delivery.

  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay informed about program updates and best practices.

9. Community Outreach:

  • Engage with community organizations and stakeholders to build a network of support for clients.

  • Conduct outreach activities to inform eligible populations about the REA program and other available services.

10. The volunteer will be responsible for a group of individuals with the main purpose of transportation mobilizing duties as:
 

  • Coordinating and teaching the families or individuals access & navigation of public transport(buses and trams) and know how the transport system works.

  • Provide information and support on where to get MTS passes. How to use google maps or read pamphlets to navigate and know which buses to take for their destinations.
