 The AAA Child Scholarship Program raises money for children in Northern Uganda to pay tuition for them to attend school. The program is looking for an intern who will build connections in the community and find events and locations to promote the Child Scholarship Program. In addition, the intern will investigate and pursue avenues for outreach, fundraising, and donations. This position will have a huge impact on a global issue and hold sustainable outcomes that can be seen. With increased outreach and fundraising efforts, more children will be given the gift of education in Uganda that would otherwise be impossible.


  •  Coordinate hosting a promotional table at community events, church functions, colleges, and other charitable occasions.
  • Establish further contacts in the community to grow our base of sponsors, thereby increasing number of children we support.
  •  Develop contact lists of organizations and other contributing parties that may be willing to partner with the Child Scholarship Program.
  • Fundraising to help expand the vision of the program and raise money for children who don’t currently have sponsors.
  • Outreach to businesses to request donations.
  • Bring awareness to the community about social issues ocurring in Uganda such as violence, poverty, disease, and malnutrition. 
  • Show the community they can empower the future generation of Ugandans by makign a difference in a child's life and educational opportunities.


The position requires a minimum commitment of three months, with an expected time commitment of four to eight hours a week. The intern should be willing to work some evenings and weekends depending on events scheduled. This position will be very flexible on days and hours, depending what works with your schedule and previous commitments.



  • Strong inter-personal and public speaking skills
  •  A background in marketing or community outreach preferred
  • Self motivated with an ability to work independently
  • Well connected in the San Diego community
  • Reliable mode of transportation and willingness to drive to different events in San Diego
  • A desire to help others and make a difference in the lives of children in Uganda
  •  Ability to work with diverse individuals, culturally sensitive and aware
  •  Friendly, outgoing, patient, and punctual


Through this experience the intern will have the opportunity to tangibly impact the lives of both American sponsors and Ugandan children. This position will develop skills in fundraising and provide networking contacts and resources in the San Diego community. The Outreach Intern position will give valuable experience to anyone interest in marketing, social services, ethnic or international studies.
