Volunteer Description:

 By interning with Alliance for African Assistance's Preferred Communities Program, the Art Therapy Intern will plan an art therapy curriculum appropriate to the refugee population that Alliance for African Assistance serves. They will have an energetic, kind, and open-minded demeanor with clients and use art to help refugees struggling in their process of resettlement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan art therapy curriculum appropriate for refugees
• Conduct weekly in-home art therapy sessions for clients
• Teach monthly art classes for refuges on-site at Alliance for African Assistance

Requirements:

• Must have completed 90 units of art therapy (or related) courses at the college level
• Bilingual in Arabic or Farsi
• Reliable means of transportation and willingness to travel to client homes as needed
• Passion to serve the underserved and refugee population in San Diego
