More Than Just Jewelry
These beads are hand-made by members of the Acholi tribe in Northern Uganda. The beads are rolled from recycled paper by members of the Alliance beading group, Lacan Pekun, which translates to "a poor person never gives up in the struggle." Members of our beading group have survived kidnapping and torture during more than 20 years of war between the LRA and the Ugandan Army. Through their work with Lacan Pekun, they are able to support their families and create a brighter future for their children.
Proceeds go to Alliance for African Assistance's Child Scholarship Program which works to support the education of children in Northern Uganda.
Churches, Schools, Businesses, Community Organizations and others are partnering with us to sell Acholi beads! Interested? Let us know and we can discuss getting you involved! Contact 619-286-9052 x 300.
